I got this motorcycle in a package deal. If I took this one, I had to take two other bikes that were in even worse shape than this one! This one was purchased and rebuilt for a good friend of mine.

Gas had leaked into the oil and I had to rebuild the carburetors. The plastic fairings were totally shattered when the mototrcycle was wrecked, but we did away with those anyway. I never have liked the way all of that plastic looked. I like to see the mechanical aspects of my bike. If I could, I'd ride it completely naked (the motorcycle, that is)!

We took the tank panels off of a '78 GL1000 and, after a little drilling, welding and shaving, where able to fit them on this bike. We also used the headlight, mounting ears and instrument cluster off the '78.

The only really challenge there was that the '78 had a mechanical tach, where the '84 used an electronic tach. I had to split the tach housing apart and gut it. About three hours of cutting, shimming and rewiring later, I think the result is pretty good.
